Heatwave Magazine Issue 2 Launch Party at The Moth Club February 20th with The Anomalys, Human Race & Fuzzy Vox

Heatwave Magazine are organizing a Launch Party at The Moth Club, Valette Street, Hackney, London E9 6NU London on February 20th to coincide with the release of Issue 2. Tickets are £6.00 in advance from this link or £8.00 on the door and you will also get a free copy of the magazine. Apart from the three bands, Heatwave DJ's will be playing a mix of Punk, 60's Soul, Post-Punk and Garage Rock until 1am. So, let's have a look at the three bands on the bill.

THE ANOMALYS (Netherlands)

HUMAN RACE (ITALY)

The tracks are explosive and to the point; however, it’s highly addictive. Human Race offers a style of rock ‘n’ roll with which I identify – an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality. Kudos to these dudes for bringing something to the table that’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, so to speak, but is just good rock ‘n’ roll. FUZZY VOX (FRANCE)
French Garage/Rock band from Paris. They release their new album "No Landing Plan" recorded and mixed in Los Angeles by Andy Brohard & Ryan Castle.

"No Landing Plan" ought to have a disclaimer that warns listeners of the involuntary volatile spasms that follow from listening to the infectious nature of this upbeat poppy garage rock ‘n’ roll. Fuzzy Vox manages to capture a sound that reflects something that borders on rock ‘n’ roll music that is not overplayed. Fuzzy Vox: Tour Dates & New "Man of Solution" Video...

The French Power Pop trio Fuzzy Vox have a load of live dates lined up to promote their excellent album "On Heat" including a prestigious show at Le Divan Du Monde in Paris on September 26th. The album was mixed by Pelle Gunnerfeldt, the famed Swedish producer who brought us the The Hives classic "Veni Vidi Vicious" almost fifteen years ago and the band certainly capture the same energetic spirit and powerful melodic Garage Rock inspired songs of the well dressed Swedes.

Fuzzy Vox New Album "On Heat" Out Now!

Fuzzy Vox, the high energy Power Pop trio from Joinville on the outskirts of Paris, have just released their debut album "On Heat" on download and white 180 gram vinyl and head off on a string of dates throughout France to promote it. The eight track album has been produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt who has also worked with The Hives, which comes as no surprise from the first two tracks "1789" and "Man Of Solution" which both bear a close resemblance to the Swedish Garage Rock stars. Third track "Dying Town" is a jittery and tuneful romp that reminds me of early XTC but the band haven't neglected the Power Pop sensibilities of their earlier releases and "Vibrator" has a nice jangly guitar motif and soaring feel-good chorus. "She's On Her Period Again" has a lovely Rickenbacker intro and is so catchy that you might find yourself singing along with the somewhat dubious song title in the chorus very loudly in public. "Let Me Ride" is probably the album's weakest track but it ups the tempo for a full-on Garage Rock stomper and is followed by the even heavier "Ruby Heart Stealer" which positively thunders along. "On Heat" ends all too quickly with the soulful "Crumb of My Heart", a great way to end a very satisfactory album that I would thoroughly recommend getting hold of. Introducing: Fuzzy Vox "Technicolour" New E.P. out now!

Fuzzy Vox, the Paris based trio, have just released a rather splendid new E.P. called "Technicolour" on vinyl and download. It's a really impressive record, positively bursting with an energy that sometimes veers into Hives territory, particularly on the one and a half minute Garage Rock blast of "Same Old Story". The title track "Technicolour" is a catchy, sinewy number that packs a real punch. Lead vocalist Hugo is a mean guitar player too and on "I'll Be Gone" he slams out some great riffs while his rhythm section colleagues, Nico on drums and bassist Gregoire, keep a tight Rock 'n' Roll grip on proceedings. "Hurricane" is a Bluesy stomp with a great call-and-response chorus and a quick-fire Who-style drum break that stops for a little mini-My Generation bass riff. The E.P. ends with a punky version of "Great Balls of Fire" which I can imagine being a live favourite at their shows. In fact from what I have seen of the band in gig photos and YouTube videos, they look like a really exciting live act. The band cram in a wide range of influences in their short songs from classic Rock 'n' Roll to Power Pop and Sixties style Garage Rock - but they also have a cool touch of Soul that reminds me of some of Little Barrie's better material. Fuzzy Vox have some gigs lined up in France including a show supporting Garage Surf legends The Barracudas in Paris on October 11th.
